What you have about wine labels is interesting--as not an "expert" wine selector, I am often intimidated by all the labels. In particular, French wine has always been a challenge to figure out, nevermind being able to remember the name or the label so you can get it next time. I have started finding myself picking wines that seem to have a fun label. So far I have had good luck--last night I opened a bottle of Red Bicyclette (label has a cute dog with a French men on a bike)--tried their 2003 Syrah and really enjoyed it...works great for a relaxed Wednesday night dinner at home (tasted great with my famous pork roast). I am wondering if more people are giving up on deciphering labels and just starting to select wines that they find friendly and approachable. Either way thanks for you post, I found it really informative!
