If there is any better restaurant or bar in Culver City than Ford's Filing Station, it has escaped my notice over the past 19 years. A devotee of eating & drinking out & about in the community, Ford's is a breath of fresh air in the up and coming trendy hipness of Culver City. Over the years I have had my local faves but Ford's puts them all to shame. With something for everyone, the food tantalizes the taste buds with its diverse fusions of flavor and in the alcohol department - a top shelf selection of potent potables and a bar staff able to mix both old standards and new concoctions equally well. A constantly changing menu based on availability of FRESH product, one night may lead you to a to-die-for pork tenderloin or the succulence of mouth watering kobe beef cheeks or a moist flaky trout that melts in your mouth. Last night I had a seafood risotto with a side of parmesan asparagus that was pure heaven. There are the two MUST HAVES on the menu - steak tartar and Ipswich clams. The steak tartar is fresh, lightly spiced and topped with a fried egg to saturate your tartar with or dip tasty truffle potato chips into. The clams are sweet, tender and extremely light. A wide variety of cured/dried meats & cheeses are available on a satisfying mix 'n match basis with portions large enough for 2 or more. If the food alone isn't enough of a reason to fill up at Ford's, the staff are pure joy. Prompt, personable, knowledgeable and accommodating, each is a delight in their own way. With a 50ish filling station motif, the atmosphere is casual & classy. Books & board games even sit at the ready for those that want to kick back with a friend and a drink. Cushioned and cozy romantic seating banks one wall while tables inside and out showcase Ford's eclectic appeal, enticing couples, singles or groups of friends and colleagues. You may have to wait for tables in the evening, but it's worth it! Ford's is THE place to get your fill of food and fun.

Interesting how I am a long time Culver City resident visited Fords Filling Station, the food was pretty good and the staff was friendly. What I found odd is that I am a local and speak with my neighbors and they have no interest in visiting this establishment more than once if at all. I found that my friends think they are somewhat snobish and don't relate to our community. They (my neighbors) whom I have known for over 20 years express the lack of community interaction from Fords. I now kind of get that they are here to get whatever they can from people like Sony Studios and really have no desire to do anything for our locals. Just our opinion.
