50th Anniversary Riedel Decanter

August 25, 2007

How does Riedel keep doing it? Each decanter they design is just as or more beautiful than the prior. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of their factory in Tyrol, Austria, the Tyrol decanter is just another example of Riedel's excellence.

Wow. This is a shockingly cool decanter.

Riedel really does have a knack for reinventing itself, which is no easy task since the company has already created an unimaginable number of wine glass and decanter shapes.

FYI, if you're the sort who enjoys running with wine snobs (as defined on my blog) or aspires to be one, you might enjoy knowing that Riedel is pronounced "REE-dle," not "RI-DEL" (as in ("Fast Times At...").

Among certain circles, knowing this fact determines whether you are perceived as a wino or a weenie.
