TurboChef Oven

TC_gallery4.jpg I have to admit I've always been a fan of the double wall oven. It just seems more logical to pull a roast out at eye level, rather than hunching down to get it. And now I'm completely smitten by the TurboChef oven. Is the retro look a trend, I'm wondering? Not only will your modern kitchen look retro cool, the TurboChef cooks twice as fast as a conventional oven. It is available in stainless steel, orange hearth, thermal red, evening blue, charcoal, ivory and white.

Appliances in Search of Customers

After doing some surfing around today, I found a couple new items that make me wonder where the market is for these new gadgets.

  • Rollertoaster - sure it won the 2006 Red Dot award, but I'm not sure about what to do about the about the crumbs.  And don't you need the room on either side for the toast to roll into and out of, so how compact is it really?
  • Breakfix - an automated breakfast cereal dispenser.  Pause.  What was that again?  Are you telling me I can't pour my own cereal in the morning?  I think I'd feel like I was living in Wallace and Gromit's house with all of Wallace's contraptions.
  • Coffee Mug Warmer - first off, not sure why my coffee cups need to be warm but I'm sure I don't need to pay $1,000 for warm mugs.
So the question is, what would you do when you find one of these under your Christmas tree?

Lightweight Blender Hits the Market

Tribest Personal Blender

The Tribest Personal Blender PB-200 is a new lightweight blender on the market that has the Daily Olive seal of approval., mainly because of the lightweight style and the ease of use for the lazy individual.  It is perfect for these hot days, cutting the cost of going out and spending money on Smoothies at the local juice bar. The lightweight base of the machine never has to be cleaned, as it comes with two 16oz single serving cups, and one 8oz single serving cup.

The bottom line here is that the Personal Blender works faster than a traditional blender, minus the mess and clean up. With a high powered 200-watt motor that easily blends ice and frozen fruits, it also works well with making sauces, salsa, sorbets, soups and baby food. Just add the ingredients into one of the Personal Blender’s cups, screw on the stainless steel blade attachment, turn it over and set it into the base.

Product Review: Simplehuman Single Cup Pod Brewer

simplehuman 42-oz. Single Cup Pod Brewer, Brushed Stainless and Black

After using our Simplehuman Single Cup Pod Brewer for the past month, we're ready to say that this is one of the better designed coffee pod brewers.  First off, it's just very simple to use, and when you're making just one cup, isn't that what you want?  The water tank is on the side of the machine, and you can choose to fill it by pouring water directly into it, or detaching it and filling at your water dispenser.  We always fill it from our Brita pitcher, and it's a much easier to fill over the Senseo tank which is in the back and you always have to remove it to fill it.

Superheated Steam Oven Cooks Healthier

Shaax700s

Cooking at 550 degrees F, Sharp's AX Superheated Steam Oven claims that it's way of cooking helps push fat out of meat and keeps it juicy.  Daily Olive recently saw this demonstrated at a kitchen store where they cooked a whole chicken that was moist and tender, and amazingly, had crispy skin!  We're not sure how that all worked, but steam ovens are another choice over microwave and convection ovens.

Nespresso Leads Other Single Cup Coffee Makers Into Market

Nespresso

Take a look around your local kitchen shop, and you'll start to find a growing number of choices for single cup coffee makers. First introduced 15 years ago, Nespresso machines have found their fans with prepackaged capsules of ground coffee. Now, new competitors are joining the fray after seeing Nespresso enjoy success with its one cup coffee maker.

This summer, Braun introduced Tassimo, Sara Lee brought its Senseo machine from Europe, and Proctor & Gamble started selling its HomeCafe machines. All these machines use prepackaged pods specifically designed for its machine to make one perfect cup of coffee--Nespresso and Tassimo using metal capsules, and Senseo and HomeCafe paper filter coffee pods.
