A Dishy Tribute to Oscars' Best Pictures

In honor of the five movies up for this year’s Oscars Best Movie category, we think these cool, skull plates designed by Sarah Cihat are in order for appetizers at your Oscar party. Think about it: every picture involves a death (at least): The Queen (Princess Diana), Babel (several people in different countries), Letters from Iwo Jima (too many to mention), The Departed (lots of guys in Boston), and even Little Miss Sunshine (good ol’ grandpa who taught Olive those moves). We chose the orange design in her honor.

City Plates by notNeutral

Eat your dinner in (or rather on) Shanghai, Cairo, Los Angeles or Berlin with City Plates. These porcelain plates have interesting graphic representation of these cities, including “color coding” for key buildings to public spaces.
Why Shanghai, Cairo, LA and Berlin? The designers at notNeutral chose them for “their reputations as gateways, and for the way each is dealing with the effects of agglomeration as its population begins to reach critical mass.”
This is truly tableware that will create dinner conversation.

No Spoon Necessary

We like products that render utensils unnecessary. This is one such product. The “ceramic for mix” makes mixing sugar with your coffee a little more entertaining, and less spoon intensive. Just drop a sugar cube into this glass cup—filled with whatever steamy beverage you prefer—and swirl the entire cup around. The ceramic ball that’s sunk into the grooves at the bottom of the cup will do all the work for you. [via Josh Spear]
Final Word: Shaken, not stirred.

New Familia Tableware from Normann Copenhagen

Designer Ole Jensen has created a new line of tableware called Familia for Normann Copenhagen. Jensen's inspriration for Familia came from ancient Mesopotamian traditions where the shapes of the plates and handles were refined through the creative process that removed all unnecessary details. Quite successful, we think. via Mocoloco.
